Persian Opposition Groups at Swedish Parliament


This morning, 25 May 2013, more than 100 members of Persian opposition groups started a two-day conference at Swedish parliament.
The event has been organized by Unity for Democracy in Iran (UDI).
The activists, analysts and journalists are coming to Stockholm from the North America and European countries to discuss the subject of free and fair election in Iran, beyond the current regime.

Ashraf Pahlavi, Most Controversial Princess of Persia


A rare photo of Persian princess Ashraf Pahlavi, which has been taken during her visit to a children center in Kerman, September 1975.
Mahnaz Afkhami and Abolreza Ansari are seen behind her in the photo as well.
Princess Ashraf is the most controversial member of Pahlavi family. Shortly after 1979 Islamic Revolution, her son Shahryar Shafigh was assassinated in Paris and in 2010 her daughter Azadeh died by cancer.
It is more than three decades that Ashraf has kept an extremely low profile and, with the exception of a memoir published in the mid-1990s, has not made any public appearances or interviews since 1981.
Ashraf lives in Paris.

IRAN AIR Flight attendants in 1970s


In 1970s IRAN AIR used to be called as the "Fastest Growing Airline" in the world.
This photo shows IRAN AIR flight attendants in 1975; when it was announced that IRAN AIR will start to fly to New York via London, five days a week.
In 1946, a group of businessmen founded Iran's first flag carrier under the name of Iranian Airways. Operations covered domestic and regional passenger and freight services plus a weekly freight service to Europe. In 1954, the privately owned airline Persian Air Services (PAS) was established, which initially operated only freight services, followed by passenger operations between Tehran and other major cities in Persia [Iran].
In 1960, PAS initiated service to several European destinations, including Geneva, Paris, Brussels and London. In 1962, Iranian Airways and Persian Air Service merged to form the Iran National Airlines Corporation, known as Iran Air.

Mohammad Nasiri, an Olympic Gold Medalist for Persia

A rare photo of Mohammad Nasiri, Persian weightlifter and an Olympic Gold Medalist for Persia [Iran].
The photo shows him in 1973 World Championships in Havana, Cuba.
This photo was originally published in the Persian-language weekly 'Kayhan Havai'.
In 1995 Nasiri was elected member of the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame.

Fereydoun Farrokhzad Wedding in Tehran, 1973

A rare photo of Fereydoun Farrokhzad wedding in Tehran in September 1973.
Farrokhzad was one of the most popular and controversial showmen in the National Persian Television in 1970s who fled to the United States after 1979 Islamic Revolution in his homeland.
He finally ended up in Germany, where he finished his studies in Political Sciences in 1960s. Farrokhzad was a poet as well and some of his works were published in Germany which was warmly received by German literary circles.
The above photo was originally published in the Persian-language weekly 'Kayhan Havai'. Farrokhzad was 34 on that time. Later it was revealed that he is gay.
Fereydoun Farrkhozad was quite critical with the Islamic government in Tehran in his shows and finally was assassinated in his home in Bonn in 1992. It has not been proved officially but it is widely believed that he has been killed by the agents of Iran's government.
Fereydoun Farrokhzad is the brother of the legendary Persian poet Forough Farrokhzad.

Persian Ballet Dancers, Tehran, 1975

In the above photo which was published in the Persian-language weekly "Kayhan Havai", they are rehearsing for "Bijan & Manijeh";  a ballet by Hossein Delhavi which was ready to perform at Roudaki Hall (Tehran Opera and Ballet House) in October 1975.
Dehlavi has composed this work inspired by Ferdowsi's Shahnameh (National Epic of Persia). The piece was later performed by Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Thomas Christian David.

Hayedeh's Fee at Tehran Cabarets in 1970s

A late 1970s newspaper in Tehran writes: "Hayedeh's fee for performing at Tehran cabarets is 12,500 tomans" [around 1500 USD on that time.]"
According to the paper, she had been the most expensive singer on that time in Persia.
Hayedeh was one of controversial Persian singers in 1970s and even after 1979 revolution who fled to UK and later to the US.
She passed away in northern California in 1990 by heart attack; She was just 47.

A Killer in Iran's Presidential Election !

Few minuets ago it was announced that Ali-Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has registered himself at Iran's Interior Ministry for the upcoming presidential election.

Some who are fed up with Ahmadinejad (the current president of Iran) believes that Hashemi can make the situation better for Persian people; but HELLO !

In 1997 during the Mykonos trial in Germany, it was declared that Hashemi Rafsanjani (the then president of Iran) - alongside of Ayatollah Ali Khameni (supreme leader), Ali-Akbar Velayati (the then foregin minister) and Ali Fallahian (Inteligence Minister) has had role in assassination of Iran's opposition activists in Europe. Now he has registered himself for presidential election in Iran!

Rare Photo of Googoosh in 1972


This rare photo of Googoosh was originally published in the Persian-language weekly "Kayhan-e Havai" in 1972, when she was awarded as the best actress in Persia.

The award was offered to her for her role in the film BITA, directed by Hajir Dariush.

Googoosh although is among the most popular Persian [Iranian] singers but also has acted in lots of movies. 

SHAH: Oil Price Will Not Drop / WEST: Then We Support Khomeini !

February 1975 :
An image of the English-language weekly KAYHAN INTERNATIONAL which shows Shah of Persia who says: "Price of Oil won't drop..."
At the same time all media facilities were provided for Ayatollah Khomeini in Paris, to be active against Shah regime. Few years later, in 1979 the Islamic Revolution was take place in the country and Iran returned to medieval times.
Now no one knows what should be done to get rid of the Islamic regime in Tehran!
